Should EASY start to get more ridgid now?
« on: January 26, 2007, 15:49:37 pm »
Amber is 7 weeks old, and sleeps well at night. Eats well most the time and is used to her nappy being done after her feed.  She has, within the last few days, become quite grouchy and there is no apparent reason why.  I wonder whether I should now start to wake her to feed her if she sleeps beyond the 3 hour routine time - despite the fact that she will probably get upset?

hi

what do you mean by her getting grouchy? [maybe it's just my language skills but could you please explain anyway?]

and can you post your typical day? are you trying to follow easy? are you feeding to sleep pr is it that she falls asleep after a feed but not during it?

sorry for questions not answers but it would help if you could answer :)

Sure... by grouchy I mean...where before she'd wake and take a while to get upset, now she wakes up crying (not in pain - but upset, i've presumed hunger).
I always try to stop her from sleeping during a feed, and then change her nappy after she's finished (usually about 20 mins (but i spend a while burping her or we have projectile vomiting), although sometimes she does seem hungry again straight after her nappy change, so i feed her a little more, talk to her for a short while, then put her to bed. She still wakes at night, so if she feeds around 6-7 ish I class this as her first feed of the day and get up to change her (she sleeps again very quickly though so i dress her after the next feed) She goes 2 and a half to 3 and a half hours before the routine normally starts again.

Niki,

You want to wake her if she oversleeps a feed time. By how long is she oversleeping?

I would let her sleep then. Not all babies do things by the book. Santiago would nap 3-3.5 hours at 2 months and I would flip out. Buuuuut, he gained weight, was content and making enough dirty diapers for 2 babies it seemed!!! LOL  I would let her sleep all she needs as long as she's making dirty diapers, growing and happy.
