The idea of "feeding" on takeoff and landing is so that your LO is sucking...it helps keep the ears clear. A paci/soother should do the same thing, as it's the sucking action not the food itself. If he chooses not to suck, there's a possibility of ear pain, popping etc.

PS have fun! Hope it a good trip...is it for a vacation? sorry prying  :-[

Have fun, a 3 hour flight with a 3 month old is a great way to start flying with LO's!  Enjoy whilst you can.  ;) Let me know if you have any specific questions, I have lots of experience at all ages flying with my DS.

Thanx
We are headed home & we have been at Grandmas since ds was 2 weeks old, needless to say I am a bit stressed at the thought of flying (reflux & I'm not a very elegant public breastfeeder, although he is quite efficient) however I am more stressed at at the (2 hour ahead) time difference & his EASY schedule; wow there are a million things.....not to mention settling in at a completely new (loud) environment AND the 90 million bags of luggage (swing; play pen; clothes, clothes, clothes) we are lugging!!!!!
Where does one start???

You know Max's Mum, that is the toughest part about flying with LO's.  All the preparation ahead of time, the shopping, the packing, the carry ons, the travel to the airports, lugging the bags, queuing up at desks, getting the bags off of the carousel, getting on and off the plane, the take off the descent...argghhh...the actual sitting on the plane part is the easy part!

BF'ing will be fine, I used a blanket over my head and his and made a little tent! LOL!  I can't even imagine all the stress, time and preparation you are dealing with and going home...deep breaths and many hugs to you.

Hello

Thanks so much, I read the stories, & I am not going to stress over this, will send everything Greyhound beforehand (less the car seat) & will remember that millions of babies fly through the sky everyday......& he IS an Angel Baby!

They should! We have always used one on the plane. In the bathroom there is a pull down thingy that goes over the toilet.  Ask the flight attendant as maybe not all the toilets have this and they will direct you to the toilet with one.  HTH.

We took Scotty on flights regularly since he was five weeks old. What we did was to buy new toys for the flight, the idea of sleeping (at any age) during this time simply wasn't "on" for him. We fed him during takeoff and at landing and made sure he was constantly entertained. We also (still) make sure he has a nap in his buggy before boarding...
