Important info regarding cereal!

Perhaps you all know this, I was not aware until today when I called my local bfing clinic (I call from time to time to make sure we're on track in regards to solids/bfs, etc.) Anyways, we got on the topic of cereal and the nurse told me to SHAKE the box well every time I spoon out the cereal because the iron is in the form of shavings and settles in one spot!!! I had no idea and have never done this, thought it was worthwhile info to pass on to you ladies.

I had no idea!! Thanks for sharing, as dd is still eating infant cereal but is anemic.  :-\  So I don't want to miss out on any iron I can get into her!  :D

Just a note regarding the Nestle cereal.   called the nutrition line and they do not recommend shaking the cereal as it is unnecessary.  She couldn't speak for any other cereal, but all Nestle cereals have iron combined chemically within the cereal itself, so there is no way it would settle to the bottom.
