4hours EASY with 3 hour A time?
« on: April 07, 2014, 17:08:28 pm »
Im just wondering how to fit in the feeds around our routine? lO will be 24 weeks this friday and our routine looks like this:

7.15 wu eat
10.00 top up feed
10.15sleep-12.03  3.00A
12.05 eat
2.45 top up feed
3.00sleep-4.40      3.00A
4.50 eat
7.30 eat
800BT

We are still having problems with naps and one of the suggestions was to give him a to up before else he might be waking hungry as at the moment he is otherwise going without food for more than 4 hours. I really dont want to feed him more than 2 at night, so want to make sure his intake during the day is good.

What generally happens when A time is 3 hours and we are on 4 hour EASY?

When A time reaches 3h you don't really do a 4h EASY any more, it wouldn't allow enough sleep time.  So you do a '4h plus' EASY with the general pattern of:

WU and e
A
Nap 1
E
A
Nap 2
E
A
E
BT

Actually precisely what you're doing!  So feeds may be 4.5-5h apart at the start of the day and cluster closer together at the end, but I never found that caused any issues :)

Thank you Katherine, does this generally look like a decent EASY? Its just webare getting terrible night at the moment, 2 hourly wakings, difficulty to resettle etc, he settles for naps just fine though. O assistance required, asleep within seconds, might squirm a little during wind down and for a few seconds when put into cot.  Ill see how tonight goes as this is only the second day with 3 hour A, but he seems to have wanted it, as it would take him longer to settle for naps on 2.45A.

It may just be him settling into the new A time, but you might want to consider pulling BT a touch earlier while he adjusts.  Maybe have him in bed for 7.30pm?  Is there anything else going on e.g. Teething?

I can feel his teeth right under his gums but the gums arent red or inflamed, he is rather dribbly, lots of bubbles and chewing but to be honest he has been like this for over a month! And we had great night during that time. I tried having him in bed by 7.40 so the usual 3hours A time but it took him 20 mins to settle with some crying. I was expecting him to wake 40 mins later, as he usually does but he slept through and woke 2.40 mins later, i resettled him as it was too early to feed, but he wone 15 minutes later and when i brushed against his lips he started rooting so i fed him and he drained both sides, so im hoping he will sleep for 3 hours with no nonsense as usual, will tell you more in the morn.....
