Does anyone know if they make teats with Bigger holes in them, for when u add baby rice cereal or biscuits to milk... all seems to get stuck in normal (fast flow) teats!
-
Dr Browns do a Y cut teat which is made for thick formula or when you add cereal to bottles.
I think other bottle makers do them too.

Yaya
teats aren't supposed to cope with biscuits and rice in them, it can interfere with the make up of the formula

I was told to add baby rice to thicken the milk!

Yaya lots of parents do add baby rice to thicken the milk for LOs and add some more calories but we are discouraged to do so here in the UK.. in my experience anyway.
As I mentioned the Y cut teats are made for that sort of thing - I use thick formula called Omneo Comfort and have used Y cut teats and they flow well.

Thanx ennypen!
wil give them a shot!

NUK has also teats specially made for baby rice added. DS hates the big teats though... I used to add one spoonful of oats to the night bottle and he liked using the normal teat... Took a while loner but worked. If it is blocked i just shake it really hard until it's unblocked... :o

You can also cut your own x-cut in the nipples. It takes a bit of trial and error to get the flow right, but it worked for us when we had to thicken bottles. Also, the Avent variable flow nipples work well.

Playtex makes "tri-cut" nipples which are a faster flow than the "fast" flow. HTH

I'm not sure but yaya could be referring to rusks rather than normal biscuits. When I was a baby my mum and other mums used to put crushed farleys rusk into milk as a thickener too.

baby rice didn't do anything for my lo but constipating him. Not doing that again!
But a spoonful of oats to the last bottle at night really works for us! Yesterday we didn't have any because they were out of stock (we have to buy the ones without milk added) and he woke up at night for a feed! First time in ages... And he was STARVINg this morning as well. And if I think about it, because he actually had more milk he had more calories than with the added oats. So I wouldn't advice that for underweight babies!

Can I just butt in here to help Yaya. Here in Italy we have biscuits called 'Plasmon' which are specifically for LOs and specifically to be dissolved in milk. They have no added sugar, etc. My DD's breakfast consists of milk and biscuits and she is coming up to 3yrs (REMINDER - I must wean the bottle, I must wean the bottle, I must wean the bottle). This is extremely common here in Italy and most LOs have their breakfast like this. We are not advised to give cereal etc for breakfast as it is not in the Italian culture to have breakfast like this.
FOT YAYA: I found a good bottle with handles and a large teat from "Bébé Confort". Have a look around in places like "IperBimbo" or similar in your area. I found an open Y-shaped teat - great!

thanx mcruari! That is exactly the reason, DS has very bad reflux and the gluten free dissolvable biscuits are to make his milk taste a bit better (he is on avery nasty sour milk for reflux and gastroentiritis!) He hardly eats a thing so on doc's orders we try what they tell us to try! He cant have the cereal as it isnt gluten free (hes allergic to that aswell)
I would never give me child something unless it was on doc's orders!
PS. they can also eat the biscuit as it dissolves with saliva! Ds likes to suck on one and at least he's getting the calories!

Thanks Sinaed - they sound just like rusks!
Glad you were there to help!
