Hey girls,
Gotta type fast as I'm thinking a 45 min. nap will end any moment now.
After getting Cole down after 12 min. of pupd he woke after 45 min, 2 hours, then again around 11:30. DH took this one and held his hand for 45 min. I told him from now on to come get me. He woke again around 1:30 and 4:30 and I confess to feeding. I know that that is at the opposite end of consistency but for some reason his cry just seemed that much louder last night.
This morning I tried putting him down at 9:20 which was 3 hours A and he fought so i brought him out for 5 min and he went down at 9:30 like a charm.
Hayley-thank you soooooooooo much for the post about Daniel now going 4-7 as opposed to 2:30-7. That is VERY helpful. I think I'll put Cole down at 6:30 for a few nights and see how we get on. Given his early bedtime previously it only makes sense.
As for food here...Cole will scoff purees all day long. Gave him a slice of banana yesterday and he gagged. I'm slowly doing chunkier stuff, mashed a pear yesterday instead of pureeing etc. Still haven't given the kid much variety. I'm afraid he's turning orange from all the squash! He doesn't usually cry at all though so i'm lucky there.
Michelle-Yay for you and Molly! I think this is where all our BWing pays off. Even in new environments our los will adapt well. We meet our daycare provider for the first time this saturday! I cannot wait. She sounds so wonderful on the phone. I don't go back until end of April though.
Tracy said the biggest thing for babies 7-9 months is that the routine is basically a guessing game. Each day is different and it's important to just go with the flow at that point.
Nancy-thanks for pointing this out because I did not remember this at all. I will go back and read through this section and hopefully get a pick me up!
OMG-I must have missed this post by nancy...what page, please tell me what page. I also need a pick me up!
Andrea-yay for Taylor! Those are some HUGE milestones. How exciting. I too forgot to mention one...will do so at the end.
Micky-i LOVE those pics. What wonderful memories. I can't wait to get a toothy shot of Cole like that
Jo-Got your card yesterday. What a lovely note. Makes me think again that I should have taken more time with my cards and sent them late. oh well. Thanks for the update on your vacation. It sounds lovely. And I so hear you on the "been there, done that" about moderating. However, my memory is terrible so I find I'm struggling a bit on the nap board. I do remember though that I was just so thankful that someone was listening/there for me when I was starting BW that I hope I help at least in that sense.
Judy-Any chance you could read to them with the book on the floor? I find Cole doesn't try to eat the book as much that way. I'm a little disappointed as some of our favourites are going to need replacing soon due to bent/cracked/sucked on pages. Oh well...at least they are well loved.
That makes me think of a little girl my friend told me about (her cousin's daughter). Her mother has always spoken to her like an adult. Her lovey is one of those bunny things and it ended up being basically a nose with a ratty blankie attached. People would comment on it and her mom told her what to say, so when my friend visited the lo told her "my bunny is well loved" LOL (i think she was 2 and a half at the time)
I forgot to mention that while fighting nap yesterday Cole stood up and GOT DOWN several times...so I know that's not a problem. Maybe I just need to do the count to 100 thing. I still think he needs me to go to him though. I think the trick is to make it so he doesn't wake and then won't be standing
Okay-our little milestone. For a while I've been trying to show Cole how to go down the stairs. I'll drag his legs down and he'll basically giggle while I do it. I noticed yesterday that he got extra close to the top of the two steps by the LR. So I asked "do you want help getting down?" He sat up, I pulled his legs down onto the step and he went the rest of the way on his own. So he had to lean down, put his hands on the step, put his legs onto the floor and get down from their! YAY!
PHEW-can you tell I miss you girls
I called my internet co. yesterday and he couldn't help me because we have a third party wireless router. Anyway, he suggested getting a longer ethernet cable...so instead I just dragged the router across the room in our bedroom so it is closer to the pc in the office and voila! I have internet
okay, must go pay bills etc and do all the stuff I couldn't do yesterday. Cole is going on 1 hour! yay.
I think I'll allow 2 1.5 hour naps if I can get them to see if it improves his night sleep. Clearly all other combos of naps aren't working so far
You can BET I'll be back later
