Question about nap/feed time
« on: March 01, 2007, 16:59:30 pm »
My daughter is 7 months old and I've just started the EASY method. My question is that sometimes she won't eat her solid food, so when I put her down for her 10am nap, she starts fussing because she is hungry. (She makes this noise that I've come to learn, means she's hungry). Do I feed her a bottle?  This morning I gave her a 4oz bottle, half of her normal feed,  in her crib. I wasn't sure what to do.....

What should I have done?

I wish I had heard about this book earlier, will absolutely be using this with the next.

This is what we are trying to "get" to. Like I said I'm just starting this out so we are still "tweaking" the schedule.

8am - wake, 8oz formula, 2 tbsp cereal, 2tbsp fruit
8:30-9:30 - play
10-11:30 - nap
12pm 8oz formula, 2tbsp veg, 2tbsp cereal
12:30-1:30pm - play
2-3:30pm nap
4:00pm 4oz formula, 2 or 3 tbsp, veg, 2 or 3 tbsp meat, 2 or 3 tbsp fruit
4:30-5:30 - play
may take a catnap between 5:30 and 6:00pm.
6:30is, bath
winddown time, books, ect
7:30-8pm, bottle and bed

Is this accurate for 7 month old?  Like I said above, this isn't what happens everyday, this is what I want to get too. I need to know what to do when she won't eat her food and wants to eat during her nap.

hi

generally your routine looks very good. at her age babies usually cut on naps and do two naps a day. so you're on right track I'm sure.
but one question- do you feed her milk and solids the same time? if so, I'd separate those feeds and then you shouldn't really have problems with her not eating enough and getting hungry at nap time

i.e.
8am wake up, bottle
9am solids
10am nap

etc

what do you think?

Now that we have been into this for a couple of days we have tweaked things a bit:

7am wake
7:30 bottle
8:30 breakfast
9am 10-30 nap
11am bottle
12:30 lunch
1-2:30 nap
3 bottle
4:30 dinner
7pm bottle, bed

Here's the problem that I'm having now.  Everynight she is ready for bed by 6:30 or 7pm. Problem is, she's not hungry and won't take that last bottle of the evening. So, I've been giving it to her around 9 or 10 when she wakes up. Should I try to intervene before she wakes up and do a dream feed?
