15 month growth spurt?
« on: August 10, 2007, 09:21:18 am »
Is there such thing as a 15-month growth spurt? My ds has always been a hearty eater (though I don't know where he puts it, he's a bit lean for his height, but very tall) but lately he's been eating more than twice as much at meals and snacks and has started waking up nearly an hour earlier and demanding food right away.

We've started giving him a snack (whole wheat flatbread) around 7:15pm or so (he eats at 6:15 and the bedtime routine starts around 7:30 or 7:45) and I nurse him right before bed, but I can't seem to get him to sleep beyond 5:45am  :( - any suggestions for snacks (other than cheese or commercially prepared foods -- we can't get them here, though we do have (and he loves) peanut butter).

Thanks!

Growth spurts can hit at fairly unpredictable times after 12 months and they do happen. Obviously eating habits will also change as toddlers become more active and mobile and use up more calories.

Other possible snack foods:
baked sweet potato/ yams/ potato
avocado slices
flatbread sandwich - hummous, tuna, tomato
quiche/scrambled eggs
banana
