9 months old and doesn't like food but loves milk
« on: June 27, 2006, 14:53:02 pm »
My DD is going to be 9 months old in a couple of days.
She weighs over 9 kilos (she was under 3 kilos when she was born so has tripled her birthweight).

Started attempting solid foods at 6 months, even though she didn't seem hungry or interested. Her first meal was an anti-climax since she just pulled a 'sad' face and didn't take any notice.

Since then she has graduated to a maximum of 5 baby spoonfuls at a meal before she demands her milk instead.

And it has to be totally pureed. If there is anything 'solid' or a lump she gags and often throws up. She is totally disinterested in baby biscuits.

I have tried carrots, yam, white soft cheeses, yoghurt, custard-puddings, potato, courgette/zuchini, chicken, green beans, bananas and apples (and maybe more).

She is getting too much milk, but if I try and feed her less milk she simply wakes up more at night instead of eating more solids.

Any advice on how to proceed? I cant envisage her even moving onto unpureed solid.

How much milk is she drinking? Could you post your routine with amount of solids and milk amounts?

(she is at nursery so the daytime times are approximate.)

She has 120-180ml of milk at about 7am.
We recently tried to give her cereal with this bottle, but she either eats nothing of it, or up to 4 baby spoonfuls.
Sleeps at 8.30ish for 45 mins.
up to five baby spoons of fruit about 9.30.
she struggles with a bottle of 180ml around 11am.
Sleeps 12.30-2pm.
(they offer her soup for lunch which she never touches).
quickly drinks a 180 ml bottle at 2pm ish.
When I pick her up at 3.30 she is eager for a bottle of 180ml at 4pm.
I have recently started giving her solids at this time - and she has a maximum of 6 mouthfuls before crying for milk.
She then sleeps from 4.30-6pm ish.
Then we try some more food - she will have a maximum of 5 mouthfuls.
We start on a 180ml milk at this time, which we normally finish after a bath.

And the evening most likely finishes with another bottle of 180ml.
And she goes to bed anytime between 7pm and 9.30pm.
Depending on how the day has gone she might wake up at 2am and want milk, or might sleep through until 6.30ish.
