Good fat foods
« on: February 03, 2014, 20:43:33 pm »
I just weaned DS and he is now on cow's milk only, no more nursing. However, I'm lucky if I get him to drink 8 oz. in a day. I do give him a yogurt, which is equal to about 4 oz. of milk, but don't think he's getting the recommended requirement of 16 oz. a day. Either way, I'm okay with that because I know he gets calcium in other foods, but I also know that part of why cow's milk is recommended is for the fatty content. Just wondering what some good foods are to make sure he's getting that aspect. He does like guacamole, so I'm trying to give him that at least every other day. I've heard peanut butter and other nut butters, as well as hummus are good sources of healthy fats as well, but would love to hear other suggestions!

Eggs,  Cheese, Avocados (not in guac form!), mayonnaise.

What age is he?

He is 16 months. Doesn't really like eggs, and cheese he used to love but won't touch it now so I have to put it in pasta recipes

Have you tried eggy bread/pain perdu/French toast?  Usually works :)

Oily fish, I mixed a good olive oil into foods too.
