When do you stop sterilizing bottles?
« on: April 12, 2007, 23:52:17 pm »
that's my question "When do you stop sterilizing bottles?", as we will be going overseas in august and I'm not really looking forward to trying to sterilizing DS bottles on the plane  ::)

Also when do you go from 4 bottles a day to 3 bottles? my LO is on b/fast, lunch and dinner and we are slowly increasing his amounts so was wondering when the transition would be.

Thanks

Depends who you ask. Generally when your LO can stick everything in their mouth its ok to stop. As long as you wash them in hot soapy water you should be fine. Also if you happen to use a dish washer then you don't have to sterilize at all as thats hot enough to do it for you.

Follow your LO's lead and he'll let you know when he's ready to drop a bottle. Probably within a month or so.

This question is asked so many times, and the most popular answer is as stated by pp.
Normally by 6 months I think alot of people have said.
I think as long as you clean them properly or put them in dishwasher its fine.

I received a sterilizer as one of my baby shower gifts. I used it only once. Personally I found it time consuming. I read that as long as you soak your bottles in hot soapy water you should be fine.

So that is what I did and still do, I soak my bottles in a plastic container (Sofia's first bathtub from the hospital...lol) for a while before I wash them.

You will notice that everybody will have different advise. This is what works for me.
