Stick on bowls??? Please help me to find a good one!!
« on: March 24, 2009, 11:05:01 am »
Hi ladies

My LO is just over a year old now and we want to start letting him have a go at feeding himself but everytime I give him a bowl with any food in he either throws it or puts it on his head!!  ;)
I bought a bowl & cutlery with a suction thingy on the bottom from 'Babies r us', it was £10 and is absolute rubbish!! The suction thing isn't actually attached to the bowl and even if it was it doesn't stick to the tray anyway!!

Any recommendations for good ones you have tried? He wants to learn but I don't want to keep wasting his food or finding bits of fruit & veg days later covered in fluff, hehe!!  :P

Thanks

I really liked them because the suction cup is really big ;)  My DS could still get it off sometimes but hey, kids are smart ;)

I have used the brother max bowls (you can get them from mothercare) and they are the best I can find.  My LO can at time detach the bowl from the suction pad though!  But I have tried a few and this is the best of the bunch!

I'll be interested if anyone else has good suggestions!

We use the Tommee Tippee sticky mat and bowl, but not sure if that would be too small of a bowl for your LO?

Have you tried wetting the bottom of the mat you have before you put it on the surface? The first time I used the Tommee Tippee one, it didn't stick, but I either ran the mat under water or gave it a wipe with a wet cloth and tried again - stuck like glue!

Yep, we use the big tommy tippee mat. I can stick other plastic bowls and plates to it which are bigger too. The only one I've found so far that works, although Ellie can still get it off from time to time ::)
