Where else can you find calcium?
« on: March 20, 2006, 15:58:40 pm »
Hi,

I'm a bit concerned as well as confused about my lo and his milk intake.  He is 14 months old and not sure how much he should be getting when it comes to calium-milk?

He drinks about 5 oz of formula in the morning and then another 5 oz during the rest of the day. Before it was easier, he drank a 5 oz bottle before every meal. But now he just doesn't want anything to do with formula. He will drink about 2.5 oz. for the other two bottles.

So I started giving him milk during the whole day. But I have to show him his sippy cup the WHOLE DAY!! Here's your milk, come get your milk, all day long so he can drink at least abother 5 oz. It's not like he has a set time for milk and snacks, cause he just drinks a little and that's it that's why I have to offer it all day long.

Also he lOVES water, most of the time it's water, water, water, so when I think he's had enough milk, I give him water thinking he won\t be that thirsty. But he drinks soooo much of it, like he had not drank all morning long. Also he won't take any juice, just water. Is this bad????

Not sure what to do. I give him a lot of cheese and yogurt to make sure he is getting enough dairy products. But where else can you find calcium? I believe you give them a lot of dairy for the calcium intake?

And how much cheese and yogurt do you give them in one day? And do your lo's still drink in bottles? Soooo confused. Please help.

Thanks

we have the same problem, she just dosen't like the taste of milk. But she does like calcium fortified orange juice, i just dilute it with cold water.  and other than that i make sure she gets cheese and yogurt through the day.

Have a look at this page, it has the calcium content for most food types/groups.
