Title: need advice/tips for starting a spirited LO on solids
Post by: yourmomwreckedmybike on September 21, 2010, 20:40:30 pm
We haven't officially started solids yet (just given him tastes of foods to see if he has a reaction). LO will be 6 months in a week.

I am 99% sure he is in the "spirited" category. What is your advice/tips/experience with starting a spirited baby on solids?

TIA

Not sure what kinds of tips you're looking for!  Well, my LO wasn't spirited, but how we did it was started with pears, and went about it slowly but not too slow, introducing a new food every few days.  It's good to introduce new foods in the morning so that if there is a reaction it hopefully clears up by the night.  Keeping a food log is always a good idea.  We started with purees and added finger foods around 7mos.  Maybe if your LO is spirited he won't have the patience to be spoon-fed, in which case you might be interested in Baby Led Weaning.  Here are some good links:

Maybe some other moms of spiriteds will have some more tips for you.
