It's probably not the poo waking him, rather that he wakes and then poos. It sounds like you are rather being held to ransom in the morning, what if you just refuse to stay with him, let him have his tantrum, accept that it will be a few mornings of screaming tantrums, maybe he'd not bother after that.

We have tried that too, the problem is we have a little baby too and didn't want him to wake her either. He would probably just get up and start playing which we were trying to avoid. Wanted him to get the idea that it's still night time and not time for playing. :/

I see your point just get the impression that he's rather got you held to ransom, and once he's got you in his room is probably reluctant to go back to sleep. I mean, what you're doing right now isn't getting him back to sleep either, but at least if he had to stay in his room  by himself (even if playing quietly) then you and DH could get some more sleep which is better than what's happenng currently right?

Well, we had another 11 hour night. 6:30-5:30. Question is not so much what to do with him when he wakes so early, but how do I now get the WU later?!  seems like his body clock is stuck. (The room is pitch black btw).

Today I need to get him to nap cos we have a birthday party to go to at 6pm tonight. Should I cap it like before at 45 mins or should he need a catch up nap?!

If it were me-I'd do a 45 min nap for our guys-I think I'm gonna do a capped 1.5??? Xx

11hr night is not bad. Maybe doing a short nap today will mean you can get a later bedtime. My point about what happens in the morning is that, sometimes what we DO in the morning inadvertently reinforces the EW.

Swym Anna...
Thing is we tried just letting him play quietly too and it also didn't help. Will have a think about it, thanks for the input! When you are in the middle of it, it's hard to see what's going on really!

Thanks Sarsheep, was also thinking a 45 min nap and later BT.

Ha! so, he was over excited after the party! but he didn't fall asleep til 9pm the. Up at 5:30 again :( so definitely done with the nap! I am not having any more of those silly short nights... He is more tired after a short night then going the whole day without a nap after a good nights sleep. So now, I plan to try to push BT 15 mins later each night and HOPE he starts waking a little later...

So, he woke at 4am asking for a drink AND then WENT BACK TO SLEEP and is still sleeping at 6:40... I guess he needed to break his body clock and catch up from the last week of NNDs and short nights. But I can now HOPE he can sleep later in the mornings as I can push out BT abit today.
