Don't know which EASY to be on
« on: August 29, 2006, 23:58:23 pm »
My LO will be 4 months old on the 1st of September. She is a really good baby, except for sleeping in the evening, which is another board. Any way, she has been on EASY since she was 6 weeks old. She has had a problem with habitual waking in the evening for a while, but I recently changed her over to a 4 hour EASY. Someone on another board said that her sleeping problems at night were due to being over tired from the 4 hour EASY. I don't know whether to be on a 4 hour or 3.5 hour. Can someone help me get this figured out?

thanks!

Hi  ;)

When you say habitual, is it the same time every night? Has she been waking at night as soon as she was on 4 hour EASY? Was she on 3 or 3.5 hour EASY before?

It is usually 1 hour after she goes to sleep.

Can you give me an outline of your day? from start to finished? as detailed as you can. That will give us a much clearer picture.

I will admit that I have not been good with being consistent with her wake up time. I work from home 3 days a week, and I am in my office 2 days. On the two days when I am gone, she gets up at 6, the other days 7. I have decided to always get up at 6 to try and keep things consistent. So....in general, this is what her day looks like

E - 6 - BF
A - play in highchair, tummy time, bouncer etc
S - 7:30 - 9
E - BF
A
S - 1030-12
E - 12
A
S - 1:30-3
E - 3
A - Bath
S - 4:30 - 5:30
A
E - 6ish
A - Low key activity
S - 6:30-7ish

These times usually vary about 1/2 hour each way depending on the day.

How does she do at nap time? Is it a struggle b/c she's overtired or does she go down well? Do you cluster feed or DF?

Nap time is usually fine. Minimal fussing and she sleeps pretty well. Occasional problems with transitions, but I give her passi back and she goes back to sleep. We do a DF at 9-9:30ish. Last night was better. She was with my MIL yesterday while I was at work. She was pretty tired when she got home. I put her down at 6:45, and she finally fell asleep at 7:20. I tried to do W2S, but she woke up at 8 anyway. She went back to sleep better last night, and I did a DF at 9:20. She slept until 6 this morning.

Sounds like she had a very good night last night!! YAY!  ;D

She maybe went through a growth spurt and it disrupted her sleep a bit.

When you say you did W2S but she woke at 8 anyway, that 8 am? if not when are you doing W2S?

She wakes up at 8PM after I put her to bed. I did wake to sleep last night after putting her to bed at 7pm. She woke up anyway, but she went down more easily. She is very sleepy today for some reason, not staying up more than 1.5 hours. Man, this kid confuses me, I guess you just have to go with the flow. I do think she had a growth spurt a week or so ago. Hopefully that is over and we will get back to normal, whatever that is!

One last question, I swear!!!  ;D

Were you doing W2S so soon after betime becuase she woke up at that time? I'm asking because if she wakes later on at night that's when you need to do it. For example she's been waking at 2am then you do W2S at 1:30 am.

My theory is when they are sleepy let them sleep, if her naps go longer today then just roll with the punches, especially if she's coming out of a growth spurt.

HTH  :-*

Yes. I did W2S because she always wakes up 1 hour into sleep at night. It didn't work though. Once she is down, after 9 or 10PM, she usually doesn't wake up again. If she does I just give her the passi back and she settles back down.

Ahhh, such is life. Thanks!
