Hiya
We started weaning about a month ago when DS was 5.5months. Everything went wonderfully, however, he recently started blowing raspberries during his feeds. Does this mean he's not interested in the food? Is it just a phase? Does it get better? He's EBF as he's refused the bottle, so he won't even take water or juice. He does better with a sippy cup, but still blows raspberries. A WHOLE LOT OF MESS going on at our house!!!
Thanks,
M

It's probably a phase! He's investigating new textures and tastes and finding new things to do! It could be he does it when he's had enough or he's a bit too tired to eat so just watch his cues and stop the food if it seems he's not up for it. I would also ignore it and I'm sure it will stop when he's bored of it and it's not getting any reaction from you!
Feeding is a whole lot of mess - my DS used to sneeze everytime he had the first mouthful of puree for ages, I seriously considered feeding him with my raincoat on!
HTH!

Ah I wouldn't worry, just let him do it, don't laugh back and he'll soon lose interest. Also don't worry about the bottle thing, just offer water in a cup with meals.

Very common. My 11 mo started blowing rasberries at about 7 months and occasionally still does it when she is eating (as a game). She also does it a lot when she is tired; it is one of her most consistent cues that says "time to sleep".
A phase......a messy one, but nonetheless, a phase.

DD does this on occasions. She was driving me bananas this morning doing it while she was eating weetabix with milk and the milk was going everywhere. She was having fun ::)

It is a phase, one that we are going through at the moment too... So everything is sprinkled with orange polka dot stains ::) I shovel the food in then hold the bib in front of her face to save me getting splattered too..
The difficulty is getting DH/DS's/Grandad etc NOT to blow raspberries back ::) >:( :P

This thread gave me a good laugh - and I needed one so thanks for that. I am just imagining all these cute little ones blowing their food everywhere and mum's in raincoats! lol
For the record, DS has done this too :)

This is a repeat phase for DD... her grandfather taught her to blow raspberries a few months ago and she did it when eating for a week or so. I didn't react, so she stopped. BUT, this lovely habit is making a reappearance :) I got to wear some peas yesterday ::)
Of course, it is easier to break the habit when Daddy isn't sitting at the table laughing - MEN!
