My hair is a prop. How to stop...seriously!!!!!
« on: April 12, 2017, 12:26:08 pm »
My 7mth old has always loved playing with my hair. It wasnt until today when I started pu/pd that my hair has become a sleeping prop for him. Seriously! He was crying. When i leant over the crib to pick him up, he grabbed my hair and fell asleep.  He does have a soft toy in his crib which he has used a few times as a prop, but how can I wean this one? The paci is easier, although he keeps refusing to take it.

My old answer has disappeared - sorry!  But I think probably this would be a case of tying your hair back so he can't reach it and just persisting with your other settling methods.  A lovey that feels silkier or something like a taggie blanket may be a nice alternative?

As an aside - not sure if you are trying to use the paci with PUPD but generally that isn't recommended.  PUPD is a technique used to break a dependence on props, so if you need to keep inserting the paci you are kind of shooting yourself in the foot!  Unless of course Lo can find and replug it himself, in which case it is a comfort item that is not dependent on you, and therefore ok to use.
