He Just Ate Some Wheat! Ooops!
« on: January 26, 2009, 16:10:50 pm »
My daughter didn't eat all of her bread, gave it to me, and I put it on the computer desk and forgot about it.

I turn around later and my son has the bread in his mouth.  I quickly take it away, but see crumbs in his mouth.  I try to get them out, but he gets mad, snaps his mouth shut and they're gone.

I think it was only a couple of crumbs.  The ingredients do say they contain wheat and MAY CONTAIN Egg.  So I'm hoping they don't contain egg as his RAST on egg was like a 5 and he has an epi for it.  He scored like a 1.6 on wheat, but they still consider it high.  So far he is fine.  Been an hour now, I hope he's fine... GAH!

So far so good.  He's still napping, which means no throwing up.  I didn't think he would.  Last time he had wheat was about 6 months ago, before the test.  He would eat it and it would give him bad diarrhea, that is all.  Usually the diarrhea takes about 5 hours to kick in, so we'll see in the next couple of hours.

I'm thinking if he has no reaction I will mention this to my allergist.  Perhaps we could trial him on wheat.  Buying Rice bread is expensive!

It would be great if you could reintroduce wheat. It gives so many more options.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~lots of no diarhea vibes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YIKES!  Lets hope he does okay, but remember it was just a few crumbs, it could have been different with an entire bite or piece, you know.
Yeah, I was wondering if that makes much of a difference or not.  When it use to give him diarrhea he was eating more than just crumbs.  He did fine with the crumbs though! lol  I was worried for a bit, but it was fine thankfully!
