Sorry- but I am devouring this website and have a million questions.
I was reading on the general sleep forum that if your baby wakes up content from a nap - not crying - that they are probably not tired. But this is what my son ALWAYS does at the 30-40 min mark. I know he thinks he is refreshed, but he can't possibly be. I think he has just taken the edge off.
So I desperately try everything to get him to sleep longer even if it takes 45 min to get 30 more min. Eventually he ends up crying and it turns into a CIO session.
Yes I do drive myself nutty :?

How old is your son?
Also, if you are in the room with him trying to extend his naps, then it is not a CIO session, even if it seems liek one.
CIO is strictly when you leave the room and leave him to cry alone.

he's just 4 months old.
I have never had success with pu/pd. He always is up if I pick him up. I was considering just picking him up at that point, not making a big deal of it, doing some very quiet activity and putting him back down.
I don't know!
