Is he ready for one nap, and how long should he sleep for?
« on: April 27, 2006, 08:38:02 am »
Hi everyone,

My LO is 11 months old and still having two naps a day between an hour and hour and a half each. I was wandering when it was time to bring this down to one. I ask as there have been a few times recently when he has not wanted to go down in the afternoon. Also he is going to be going to a childminders for two days a week soon and she won't be able to devote as much time to getting him down to nap as i can.

Generally when do two naps turn to one and how much sleep should he have a day.

At the mo he wakes at 6 - 6.30
Nap 9.00
bottle 11.00
lunch 12
nap 2.00
snack 4.00
dinner 5.00
bed 7.00

we do the whole bed routine of bath book cuddle bottle and for nap we have juice cuddle and nap

Thanks
SARAH

Instead of rushing to one nap, have you tried limiting length of first nap? You might want to try to cut first nap at one hour (or even 45 minutes) so he can still get in a good afternoon nap. If that doesn't work, let us know and we'll think some more!

I would definitely wake him from the first nap so that he's tired enough to take the second.
