When did your LO start using a spoon to feed him/herself?

Hi, My LO started around 12 or 13 mos, I think.  He is getting better and better at it.  He is by no means neat but he manages to get food into his mouth with a spoon.  It's easier if the bowl is full.  Except now he is demanding a little more independance and doesn't want mommy or daddy to help too much.

I always provided ds with a spoon and he can use it competently and has done from just over a year. However, he still also likes to eat with his fingers and will often hold the spoon in one hand and pick up the food with the other one.

I think she started using it about 12 months or so. She can now almost empty a pot of youghurt (and get most of it into her mouth!!)

my almost 11 months old son refuses to even hold a spoon let alone use one.  Future of finger foods only for him! lol

At 12 months, but I find they all find a little fork easier and chop the food int small bitesized pieces.

I think its good to start with a spoon again lol. My ds is 2 and he still struggles to eat with a spoon as he keeps tilting it upside down like when he eats with a fork. He eats well with a fork. But not use to a spoon. I have showed him a few times but he still tips it. I just leave him and I know he will eventually get the hang. He wants to be alot more independant and he always insists on eating by himself.
