short eating period

Hi all,

My daughter is 2 months old and wouldn't breastfeed for more than 7 minutes at a time. Is she getting enough to eat?

In the evenings I'm giving her a bottle (of pumped milk) before she goes to bed and another one before I go to sleep. From a bottle she's eating about 5 ounces per feeding.

Should I go see a lactation consultant?

Lactation consultants are always very helpful!! 

Does your lo seem satisfied after her feeds?  How long does she last before she wants to be fed again?  If she is only satisfied for 1-1.5hr than she might not be getting enough.  However, if she can go longer periods and is sleeping good stretches through the night than I would assume that she is doing just great!  Two bottles of 5 oz each sounds like a good amount to me, especially at night time.

You'd be suprised at what a 'normal' amount of time to nurse can be from5mins upto 40mins is all quite common. If she is happy, having plently of wet nappies and eating around every 2hours I'd say she was fine but would second seeing a LC as its so much more mind settling to see someone face to face and they can double check your latch,etc
