Title: What solid food does your baby eat at 8 months
Post by: LŠuren on February 12, 2006, 21:03:38 pm
Hiya
I am due to take me LO on holiday when he is 8 months (ish) can you let me know roughly what consistency and amounts of solid foods he will be eating.

Currently I give pureed 3 ice cubes of veggies late afternoon and sometimes baby porridge in the morning with either pear or apple in it.

I have been making my own (annabel Karmel) purees.   I started giving him more solid food when he was 17weeks he is now nearly 21 weeks.

thanks for you help  ;D

hi there...  I'm using a book called Super Baby Food.  My girl is 8 mos. and here's what she eats:

Rice, Barley, Oats, Millet
Asparagus, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Peas, Green Beans, Broccoli, Squash, Avocado
Apple, Banana, Mango, Pear, Peaches
Cheese, Tahini, Yogurt, Cheerios, Rice Chex, Ground Sunflower Seeds

I probably forgot at least a couple things, but that's a pretty good list.  Consistency?  Well, it's thicker than it used to be, but I still add water to most things when I puree.  She doesn't like for food that comes from the spoon to be lumpy, though.

good luck!

My DS (7.5mths) has porridge (made from porridge oats and cows milk) for breakfast,
chicken and veg type puree and fruit for lunch
and then another meat/chicken and veg puree and a yoghurt/fruit for dinner.
He also likes the little rice cakes and rich tea fingers for a snack.

I've tried a pasta dish from the Annabel Karmel book but he didn't like the lumpy bits yet
so we still have it more smooth but done with a hand blender thing rather than totally
pureed in a liquidiser.  Each of his portions is 2ice cubes but somedays he could take 3 for his
meat/chicken at dinner time.

Hope that helps

At eight months my little one was eating everything bar eggs and peanuts. About 100g of meat/veg at lunch followed by a small grated fruit apple/pear; about 100g of veg for tea followed by fruit as well. For breakfast she used to have about 6 scoops of cereal and yogurt. Consistency; it is a difficult one because she has reflux so she tends to gag on very lumpy food. It is still pureed but quite thick. She does love pasta though; I bought her a special one from the Italian deli for babies and it is slimy so she has no problems with it at all.

God Holly your post made me really hungry :)
Rose has mainly veggies and fruit but she has porridge and mashed banana for breakfast.
I measure her meals as 2-3 heaped desert spoons of food for each 'course'
She also loves chewing on marmite toast fingers and slices of banana (not together!)
I've only just started adding meat and fish to her meals and it's by no means the main ingredient. I've also started to blend a portion of what we have for tea (as long as it contains food she can eat) and the consistency is getting lumpier. If she can't cope with any bigger lumps, she spits them out! :)
