finger food before lumpy food?
« on: May 10, 2006, 17:09:38 pm »
another question!! My lo has been on solids for about 10 weeks. She is now grabbing her spoon with food on and putting it in her mouth (the food goes everywhere but her mouth ha ). She hasn't had very lumpy food yet just porridge with oats most of her food is a thick puree or mashed. So my question is do I have to get her eating lumps in her food before I give her finger food. She is really desperate to feed herself and put things in her mouth. Would something soft like banana or cooked pear chunks be ok for her to suck on? (She is 8 months but 2.5 months early by the way so more like a 5.5 month old however she was weaned according to her actual age on consultants advice). Thanks

I gave my little one finger food before lumpy food because my ped. said it was easier to introduce texture that way so you can try. Be very very careful with what you give though; banana coated in cereal is a good one (the cereal makes it a little less slimy).
