How early is o.k. to begin feeding yogurt and cheese?  My lo is almost 7 months and we have been feeding veggies/fruits and baby oatmeal since 6 months. I wasn't sure as I have heard not to feed cows milk before a year.

i heard that yogurt is ok from 6 months as it is already predigested and that once they are ok on that you can add cheese in. Apparently loads of baby recipes have cows milk in. Does anyone know about this? Someone thought that you can give them milk if its been cooked but just not to drink until they are a year.

Small amounts of dairy like yogurt or cheese are fine because the lactose has been broken down and is easier to digest. It's not appropriate as a drink until 1 yr for several reasons...the biggest is that it would likely replace some or all of the breastmilk/formula the baby drinks, and milk is nowhere near as nutritious.

We started yoghurt and custard at 6months and cheese at 7months. We also introduced it by giving a little cows milk on cereal as in Australia we are told this is ok aslong as their are no allergies.
