What to introduce next as finger foods
« on: May 16, 2006, 13:38:48 pm »
I'm so confused.

At the moment I giving DD as follows.

Breakfast either weetabix with banana mashed in and cows milk, porridge, ready-brek, jar of baby breakfast mixed with 1/2 a rusk and given her the other half as finger food.  She doesn't really like cheerios, but I am going to give that to her tomorrow with cow's milk see if she likes it.

Lunch, pasta/potatoes with veggies and meat (jar 190g) followed by a yoghurt.  I am currently making my own food to feed her at this time.

Tea/Dinner, finger foods.  I have given her jam sandwich/toast, cheese spread sandwich/toast, eggy bread, banana, grape.  Always a jar of fruit afterwards.

When I give her these finger foods, she readily eats them, but trys to stuff the whole strip in her mouth, ends up gagging and then refuses to eat anymore, until I put them in her mouth, while she plays around with the food.  I have cut the food up into bite size pieces put them in front of her she picks two up and puts two in her mouth then gags.  This has been going on for about 2 months now.

What should I give her next  :-\   I'm a fussy eater,  :-[, and I don't want my DD turning out like me.

Have you tried little bits of cheese?  She could also have bits of fruit or vegetables cooked really tender.

For awhile, I could only put one piece of finger food on the tray at a time. Eventually Tyler learned not to stuff them in his mouth. You could also try cut up steamed veggies, like broccoli or carrot.

Yep . too much on a plate is over whelming. One at a time. Cheese can get stuck on roof of mouth so make sure if it very small.
She has a fab diet so you know she is eating well, teaching her to eat a bit at a time is the key. Phoebe plays with food and she eat FF very well so don;t worry about that.
