Formula fed babies question
« on: December 11, 2006, 07:41:35 am »
Hi

Just wanted to ask if this seems normal - my dd has 2 bottles of formula day - the rest is breast milk.  Her poos now are much thicker and sort of creamy in texture - plus she has a lot of wind - is this the effect of using formula?  Just wondered whether it sounds like I should try a different one or if its ok?

Thanks

Yeah, the poo gets a bit interesting!!  And it stinks a whole lot more too!

Not sure where you are posting from, but some brands do an easy-on-the-digestion version (here in the UK we use Cow & Gate Comfort).  Also I think you can get soy brands for the lactose-intolerant.

It might be worth trying a different one or asking your hv to give some recommendations.

Hi Lisa

Yes, it will be the formula thats caused the change. Ewan's poops went from none stinky BF poopies to slightly wiffy ones.... then when I changed to the Cow and Gate Comfort stuff because of his colic they became downright stinky.....and a lovely shade of Khaki (I think he's going for this seasons colour LOL). He's also a right windy miller and trumps like noones business (they wiff as well!!).

love
Marie

Yep, interesting poopies here too.  Cam can be a right old farty pants too, although I'm not sure if that is the formula or that he is a MacLeod and takes after his Daddy  ;)

We use Cow and Gate too.

and the poopies change again when you introduce solids!  The rainbow of colors appear and it all depending on what solids you offer!   :o

Oh, I remember those well from Gracie. The first time she had pureed carrots her poop was orange and it totally freaked me out!! :)

I agree about the wind - they've nicknamed Jason "trumpet trousers" at nursery - and of course being a typical little boy (aged 10mo) he giggles when he farts and thinks it's funny!

The first time I gave my DS a mixture of broccoli and carrots, his poo had streaks of both colors!  I was so worried!   :o

Grace says Ewan has a motorbike in his pants because his farts make a putt-putt-putt noise like a motorbike engine. It must be a boy thing because he thinks it's hilarious aswell.  ::)
