10M old NW's over an hour--help?
« on: October 16, 2012, 18:57:40 pm »
I'm totally confused what is happening--our 10 M old is waking 5/7 nights for over an hour at a time--nothing seems to settle him besides an hour of time.  The timing is different from night to night and sometimes he sleeps through the night.

His schedule is
7 wake, bf
8 bfast
10-10:30 nap--1-1.5h
11:30 bf
12:30 lunch
2-2:30 nap--1-1.5h
4 bf
5:30 dinner
6:30 bf
7 bed

We separated nursing from bedtime--he goes down for naps and naps just fine--is totally happy but wakes up mantra crying--we wait--he falls asleep or is quiet for 15-20 minutes wakes up with strong crying--we go in--soothe with voice--pd seems to rile him up and nothing works besides an hour of time

what are we doing wrong--

Hi there!
You sound like you're probably in the very early stages of the 2-1 nap switch.  Have a read of this and see what you think: 10 to 12 mth old Sleep Gone Wonky, and the 2 - 1 Nap Switch

What you probably want to do is push A times a little and start capping one of his naps (either the AM or PM -- lots of people will cap the PM as that way they know they already have gotten a good AM nap -- and as long as he's still taking a good AM nap, I would go along that route).  Don't cap both naps as that will only lead to OT.

Does that make sense?
