I also had a lot of vege puree's left in the freezer.  I have frozen cooked rice and I add that to change the texture.

One things that makes James laugh is after his bath atnight, we let James have a play in his room with no clothes on.  He crawls around laughing for as long as let him.  I think it is his favourite time of the day - full belly (after dinner) and feeling clean. :D

I am glad everyone is enjoying my recipes.  I hope your lo's enjoy them too.  I have to admit, I hadn't thought of macaroni cheese, but may give that a go next week.

Just a quick medical question:  does anyone elses lo's belly button pop in and out :?  I asked a health nurse yesterday and she said it was a hernia  but not to worry unless it doesn';t change ie keeps going in and out or gets bigger.  It doesn't seem to worry him - just curious :)

we are in a afternoon A time - I am wondering if James is now able to stay up for 3hrs.  He was at 2.5hrs  but lately has been fighting going down after this.  He is usually awake in the afternoon for about 3-4hrs.  will not catnap :x How long is everyone else awake for?

Is there an oz/nz chat tonight?

Hi ladies!  Our afternoon awake time ranges from 3-41/2 hours.  A lot of the times there is a long walk mixed in.
I feel way behind with the solids, you guys are really whipping it up in the kitchen.
Favorite giggle games-holding Lo then saying "ahhh" quickly and letting him fall a little in my arms.
lots of peek a boo
picking flowers (no giggles but very interested)
acting like a lion while getting close and then giving lots of kisses.
I am exhausted after the early wake up.  Hope to check in with you while I am out of town.
Good naps for everyone and more sleeping through the night to you all.

Hi Guys!  Not a lot of time the last couple of days because we are in fast progress with the baby clothing business!!!  I am so excited we met with the screen printer today and could have samples as soon as next week!  We are hoping to have the website up and running by December in time for Christmas shopping.

SO a couple of things: I feel like a loser for not getting T to try different things yet.  She LOVES to eat but I am still sticking with the pureed veggies (yellow veggies only), mild fruits and cereals.  I see you all are being way more adventurous than me and it makes me think I need to give it a go.  I am hesitant though because mangoes and peas have seemed to upseet her tummy, so don't know how she'll take scrambled eggs!?!?!

Anyhoo, Ankie, something you said struck a chord with me...you are right, many times I often feel like if I didn't have her on a routine, I wouldn't feel so down when she was off of it.  But just remember we all haev our off days and so do they...and her off days always get to me more than they should...but we are human and just know what is best for them!  And yes the other moms that seem just happy go lucky with no routine are exhausted.  I know quite a few of them who wish their lo's could sleep on their own.  HUGS!

Riley and Sophie look adorable BTW!!!  :)

Hayley, good luck with the solids in your house.

Micky-GOOD VIBES for your little man.  I'm sure it will be harder for you than him, and if not, nothgin a little Motrin won't fix for him!  HUGS

Today I took a catnap with Taylor and it was marvelous!  I can't tell you how long it has been since we napped together.  It was all cold and rainy today so we snuggled in my bed and watched Baby Einstein together and then we fell asleep.  One of those picture perfect moments you don't get very often!

I had fun chatting with you all tonight eventhough it was short.  Sunday was super fun too!

Oooh Andrea, your snuggle in bed sounds delicious.  Your biz sounds like fun!

I think I'm also one of the boring ones with food - mind you, it's taken me ages to get D to eat food, so we're still only doing mild veges and fruit plus rice cereal (but probably about a dozen things in total).  I think I will do egg yolk tomorrow though since I did some baking for my coffee morning tomorrow (I never usually bake  but am so Nathan can eat it and we also have a dairy allergic child in our group) tonight and only used the whites - I was too scared with Nathan until he was closer to 12mths, what about the bits of white still stuck to the yolk, is it anything to worry about, or is it assumed such a small amount won't cause a problem?  Think I'll post on the main board too and see what response I get.

Right, giggles from D.....

Nathan gets the best ones - he plays peek-a-boo with her while she's in the jolly jumper and he's behind the couch, he does a fake laugh that she thinks is pretty hilarious, oh and she loves it when I sing "round and round the garden like a teddy bear...." and tickle her under the arm, she starts to laugh before I even finish the song. :D

Night night.

Hi All,

Mised the chat - DH gave me a massage and tucked me in to bed  !  I am really stressed out, he didn;t realize until I gave him my list of 'things' to do and things on my mind in the next 3 weeks.  It was very sweet and I feel a bit better today.

Am I going to try some fun stuff to eat with Sophie before I go to work today.  I hope she likes it....

Things that make Sophie crack up

'eating' her cheeks while going yumyumyum

the palms of her hands are soooo ticklish :?  She is super ticklish everywhere

throwing her in the air will making a variety of strange noises (DH)

holding her upside down and rubbing foreheads   :?

she loves dancing with me, like really boogying!

Jeez i just realized why Sophie probably pukes all the time lol!

I can't believe how mobile Sophie is without actually crawling, anyone else going through this?  She rolls and shimmies and pulls herself along the tile by her arms.

Have a lovely day everyone........

richelle, I am glad you had a chance to relax last night.
It is amazing how riley can move without crawling. Last night she stirred, I went into her and she was asleep on all fours as if she was going to crawl..WTF. I got her up thinking she was hungry, but she passed right out on my shoulder.
Sha has been awesome at nights too. tues. night she went from 10:30pm to 8:30am and last night, I fed her at 5:45pm, pd at 7pm and the next I heard from her was for a feed at 4:45am.....I think I might be getting spoiled after them both being sick on and off for a month.
It is so amazing that Riley will be 8mths on nov. 26th....
We are contemplating potty training Jayson, but I am petrified, I guess I look at it as my little boy growing up  .
Well i will have to come back later, Riley is getting a little mad on her mat, she wants to move around.

Hi, girls!  Traci, I'm glad Ryan can provide a few giggles.  I can't get him near the computer or he starts banging on the keyboard and yanking it off the desktop.  Maybe he'll be some sort of computer programmer some day?

Things that make Ryan laugh:
*  Grabbing at his hand through the shower curtain from inside the running shower (dh does this every morning while I hold him in my lap...it's pretty funny) and also popping your head out of the shower to play peek-a-boo.
*  Laying on the bed with him while dh jumps over us and pretends he's going to land on us
*  Wrestling and Rolling around with him
*  Holding him upside down (by his hips, not his legs)
*  Silly faces and voices and Mom's dorky dances

Wow!  I guess we're a bit physical with him.  Doesn't seem to mind, though.  Aren't their belly laughs so fun?  This growing up stuff is going too fast, but each new stage is such a delight.

Rough morning over here...cranky from the get-go.  He heard me get up for aerobics and cranked at 5:50.  So, I gave him a quick feed and back to bed until 7 or so. Not sure if that threw him off or if it's teething...oh, wait, I said I refused to speculate on the teething thing anymore.  When they come, they come.  Enough, already!

Richelle, I am sooo jealous of your relaxing night.  You're just going to Canada for a visit, right?  You had mentioned moving off island after the hurricanes and wasn't sure if that was what you were doing in the next 3 weeks or "just" preparing for a trip.  (As much work as moving, IMHO).

Okay, must go clean the bathroom...was going to do it all day yesterday, but to no avail.  I will get it done.  I will get it done.  Buh-bye!
Kate,

Kate - I know what you mean about the belly laughs - it kills me, then we perpetuate the laughing cycle, so much fun!

Sophie and I are going to Canada for a visit on the 30th of November and moving house here at the same time, so packing the house and packing for a trip to the great white.  Also I am having a really tough go of it at work, trying to wrap up and delegate and theyare dissappointed I am leaving so are really not helping too much to make it a smooth transition.

Sophie had some grated apple in her cereal this am and a piece of toast with cheese melted on it and LOVED it!  I made her some noodles with chicken, tomato sauce and cheese for lunch - we will see how it goes.

Hi everyone--
Andrea, you remind me of someone who just can't sit still - you quit your job and already have something else lined up!  Nice work!  Oh and I just LOVE snuggly naps too.

As for food - count us among the less adventurous crowd - Katie has a bunch of different fruits and veggies and I just started giving her rice and chicken, but I think that's it.  I gave her a piece of bread when we were having dinner the other night, but she just played with it.  Likewise on the Cheerios I gave her the other morning.  I've got to buy some fresh bananas for her and see how those go.  She loves the kind in the jar.  I may be inspired from everyone else's recipes though - keep them coming please!

Let's see - laughs - she loves watching us jump up and down, she's SUPER ticklish. she laughs at pretty much anything the cat does, she also loves that hide behind something and jump out trick, she loves when I put a blanket over her head and she gets to pull it off, making faces (me, not her)....oh, and she loves when I blow very softly in her face and blow her hair around.

Richelle - loved the beach pictures....nice to see it's nice out somewhere in the world.

Naomi - your princess is adorable.

That's about it - music class starts soon and she's still asleep.  I always try and figure out how long I can get her to sleep and still have time to throw her in her clothes and dash out the door (I keep her in her PJs until after her first nap usually - unless they're dirty.)

Oh and all of a sudden, we've got SIX teeth here   -- three in the past week.  And I wonder why she hasn't been sleeping well (though she did for about the past week when the darn things actually came though - I guess it's getting to the surface that bothers her.

Kate-I'm with you, no more speculating on the teething.  It's taking forever and I just don't know anymore.

Micky-hope to hear soon how things went with Jackson.  Big hugs to all of you.

Andrea-I too am so very boring with food.  Only cereal, vegs, and fruit so far.  I can barely get dinner on the table for DH and I, let alone plan a real meal for Cole :?

Hannah-I think it was you that mentioned savingdinner.com from flylady website.  Did you subscribe?  If so, do you like it?  I need to start planning.  My biggest thing is the darn protein.  Always frozen when I want to make something.  I need to learn to cook soups and use the crock pot.  used it once for roast beef and didn't like how it turned out.  Also need to cook big items (lasagna, sheppard's pie) and freeze for later in the week.  I just don't know where I'm supposed to get the time.  Maybe, just maybe I should NOT be on here so much but that is just a CRAZY thought

Ankie-hope things are going okay out your way.  sleeps any better?

As for awake times...someone asked. I am baffled.  Totally baffled.  I wanted to start putting Cole down by the clock at 8:30 and 12:30 but when he wakes at 5 am that's a long stretch. Today I put him down at 8:00 and guess what-45 min!  Held him for 30 more minutes because I knew he was pooped.  Maybe should have done pupd but it doesn't seem to work to put him back to sleep.  So, after getting up at 9:15 I kept him up until 12:15.  I'm really hoping for 1.25-1.5 hour nap.  he had a catnap yesterday and woke early again even though his total day sleep was only 2.25 hours.  So i'm at a loss.  Going to keep experimenting and hope we can drop the catnap for good and I can get some sleep.

There are a lot more things that Cole laughs at now that everyone mentions it.  Holding him upside down by the hips, throwing him up in the air a bit etc.  So we're physical with him too. It's fun :D

Do all of you let your los crawl around naked?  I guess I'm afraid of the big poop (Nikkii-was that you with the once a week Poo during naked time?) or even just pee on the carpet.  Guess I'll have to get over it and just steam clean as necessary.

okay, as I complained about my lack of time, i should get off here. Going to make banana chocolate chip bread.  The only thing I bake.

Oh ya-Nikki-good on you for the baking:)  I'm sure the other mom will appreciate it too.

Goodmorning, I'm now caught up again on the reading less than a day away from you girls.

Sorry I missed the Kiwi-Aussie chat, when exactly is it? I'll put it in my outlook calendar with a pop up reminder. LOL.

Hannah - thanks for the recipe website. I'll have a look later. I'm lucky as DH does most of the night cooking, but it still may have some great ideas for us, especially as I think I'll have to start cooking more once I stop feeding Daniel.

Traci - I checked out the flylady site, but it was too much for me. IE too many emails. I also discovered I'm pretty organised and tidy. MOst of the things she said to do, I do anyway. Our house is too small not to be tidy. Ahh the joys of cheap airforce accommodation. Also, I guess I'm a tidy person anyway, on the outside. DH laughs at me cos if it's in a cupboard or behind the couch and can't be seen, I don't mind if it's a bit of a mess. He used to always call me Monica (from Friends).

Andrea - your clothing business sounds exciting. Are you making the clothes youself? Make sure you give us your website address, and do you post overseas??

Well girls, today is B day in our house. BOTTLE DAY. DH got up at 5.30am to feed Daniel. He wasn't too impressed (Daniel that is). Eventually took 40mls, but not properly drinking. And then had cereal with about 20mls, so that at least helped. Last night before his last feed he took the bottle from me and drank properly, in my arms and sucked. So I know he can do it, it's just a matter of when. And during the day he took a total of 70mls while sitting on the floor and me holding the bottle up. He's now been asleep for 2 hours, so I guess he wasn't starved when he went down. Already my b@@bs are sore. Infact, I think my hands feel a bit tingly. Oh no, this is going to be uncomfortable. I'll take some pain killers and get some "milk stop" from the health shop today, and I guess I"ll just bear with it. Any helpful drying up tips welcome!!!!

Oh, Daniel's just woken up, so I'll have to make myself scarce.

Bye girls. See you tonight.
