Is there a 2 year sleep regression??
« on: April 16, 2014, 20:46:56 pm »
Losing my mind here for the millionth time, my little man out of the blue began screaming at nap and night time, wants mama or daddy to sit in the chair in his room, grand until he's waking every hour of the night!!
He's not seeming to fall into a deep slep anymore, he's asleep since 8.10, and I've jyst come to bed and he woke as I passed his room:-(

I'm currently just sitting on the stairs outside his bedroom so he can see me but this just drives him even more beserk, he's black and blue from hitting himself off the cot.

Usual routine is/was
Wu 7/7.30
Nap 1-2,30 capped
Bed 8

He's exhausted, this started since the clocks went forward and he was sick last week so no sleep training.. Is there light at the end of the tunnel???

Yes there is a regression around 2yrs (we hit it at 23m), and what you're describing is pretty much what R was doing.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel?  Yes

WhAt I found worked was consistency. EAsier said thAn done I know where your LO is being a monkey. Stick as closely to your routine as he will allow. I managed the BT shenanigans with a combo of reassurance e and will/would.

R tends to get it very quickly so.to help manage the mess we found out selves in I did bring the nap baby k temporArily to 12.30 for. 1p..So her OT temper tantrums were getting ridiculous. Once we were on the straight and narrow we worked to get the nap to 1-30

HTH xx

We are having this too and DS is 23 months old!! It's like SA too bit only at BT oh and 2am!
Trying to stay consistant is key and I know hard but I've found with regressions it's best to try and stay on track with routine. I've found pushing nap bit later is helping the fighting and lots of running around wearing him out then lots of BT cuddles!!
Your not alone x

Oh haribo, I thought I was hard done by with 6.45, poor you:-(

I managed to keep him til 12.50, asleep by 1, and still asleep, I didn't have the heart to wake him at 2.30, plus I'm enjoying the peace.. I'll probably pay for it later though!

In my house this is considered a fantastic WU LOL!

Yup, HUGE regression here at 23 months and I think we've FINALLY come out the other side.  Wowzers that was exhausting.  2hrs screaming at BT, multiple NWs, massive SA...you name it.

I managed to keep him til 12.50, asleep by 1, and still asleep, I didn't have the heart to wake him at 2.30, plus I'm enjoying the peace.. I'll probably pay for it later though!
I think we got into a crazy UT/OT loop ourselves, so sometimes I found that letting him nap long and pushing BT out was the best, especially because it gave us a later WU.

We are now doing:

WU 6:30
Nap 12:30/1pm (somewhere in there) - 2:30/3pm
BT 7:45

Honestly, it just sort of came and went on it's own.

It was a solid month for us, then a break of about 2 weeks, then a little bit messy again while the last canine poked through...but not nearly as bad as before.

Hang in there!!!
