try or wait to nap again?
« on: April 10, 2006, 18:12:55 pm »
My 4 month old son is a great napper taking 1.5 - 2 hour naps usually. However, sometimes he will cut his nap short and wake after only 30 - 40 minutes.
When he does this should I wait another 2 hours/1.5 hours to put him down again? Or should I try to put him down sooner since he cut it so short?
Thank you.

If you cannot extend the nap/help him fall back asleep, I would personally choose to get him up and wait as close to next nap time as possible so as not to perpetuate the short nap cycle. But be careful not to get him too overtired!

At his age (4 months), he should probably be staying awake closer to 2 hours. Only 1.5 hours A time might lead to short naps at his age.
