constipated??

Hi, my 4 month old ds is exclusively breastfed and hasnt had a BM for almost three days now and I'm getting a little concerned, should I be? Is this normal? is it something I ate? anything you guys know will be helpful...thanks in advance!

It's perfectly normal!

Exclusively bf babies can go 1-2 WEEKS without having a BM and it's normal.

Breast milk is so digestable that there is often very little waste.  It's all used by the body with very little left over.

So don't worry!  Just be thankful you've had a few days off from changing poopy diapers! 

FYI... Constipation refers to BM that are hard and difficult to pass.  Having infrequent BM does not make one constipated, as long as the stool is soft and easy to pass.  It's only if the BM is hard, pellet-like and painful to pass that the term is correctly used.

Very normal.
I've heard of a healthy exclusively breastfed baby going 21 days. 3 days is really nothing to worry about as the previous poster has said. The only drawback to very infrequent BMs is that on 'the day' your LO can be a little unsettled. It's important though to let nature take its course and don't give anything to a breastfeed baby to try and induce a BM.

My lo had a bm 4 days later....its good to know that its normal, thanks ladies!
