No you don't need to, afaik bm provides all the fluid they need. I can't even remember when we did offer water to the older girls...probably they got their first taste of water slurping in the tub :-X

Ok thanks :)

I started offering a sippy with water about 6-7 months and it took each of them to 8-9 months to get the hang of it!! But from a fluid in take POV no you don't need to offer water x

The NHS recommends offering water in a free-flow sippy cup from 6mo with solid foods. I think this is mostly so they can practise sipping it though. Some LOs will want a drink with their solid foods to help wash it down and rinse their mouth though. You could of course offer a quick BF straight after the solid food if this were the case.
Remember if you do give water before 6mo though it needs to be boiled to sterilise it.

I always did with C but as Shiv said it took months to get the hang of it. I think if you're taking it slowly and no constipation issues arise then you'll be fine. I've just bought G a sippy and some spoons as we'll be starting soon I think!

We had exactly the same with DS1 with his sippy, in fact I think it took a fair bit longer actually!
I will start to offer some in a sippy I think just so he starts to get used to it.
Thanks ladies x
