Hey all, yeah we go tomorrow actually!  This weekend I didn't try at all.  It was chaos.  It was Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, and then my daughter got the croup, and now I'm sick.  Too much going on for me to try and have a food battle lol.  So, since I go tomorrow I will probably start on track again then.  I'll let you know how it goes and what they say!

I am glad you think your ds will like smoothies at least that way you can get some really good nutrition into him.

I hope the appointment goes well tomorrow and they can support you in moving your son in the right direction.

Thanks!  I just need to find a good blender!  The one I previously had was terrible.

Well, they are switching dietitians, so I won't be seeing one until the new one starts at the end of October.  In the meantime they told me what she'd tell me which is this:

With every meal put some fruit or veg or meat on their plate along with the food you know for sure they'll eat.  But with the food they will eat to make it a smaller portion, so that they are still hungry, and so he'll perhaps try the other food on his plate.  If he doesn't try it, fine, put him down and let him go play, don't make a big deal out of it, but don't give him more of the food he does like.  So he's not starving.

So I am going to do this for a couple of weeks and see if it helps.  I hope it does.  I'll update this further if things change... **crossing fingers**

Finger crossed.

{{hugs}}  Pity about the dietician changing but at least when you go back you can report on the progress!!

Exactly!  That way I can say if it's working or not, and by then enough time will have passed.

I am going through the same thing.  We would start off our meals with him sitting at his chair, no booster, cause he absolutley refused...and after a few bites since he was able to get away he did.  I would chase him around the house with spoonfulls of food, which he took.  Now he won't come  to the table.  So I brought out the booster and he is only having a few bites and he wants out.  Another issue is milk,  he drinks lots of it and it hinders his appetite.  I tried this morning to cut his milk to half and he asked for more and more and more.  I will try what your dietician has suggested and see what happens.  My lo usually eats meat and fish and will pass on veggies.  I am totally not going to make an issue even though it is very difficult.  he is feeling off so I won't push it but i do sympathize.  My lo is 2.

Janick, have you tried watering down the milk? Would he notice - so he thinks he having a whole glas but is really only having a half? YOu could try diluting it slowly so he doesn't notice.

Sometimes toddlers just seem to survive on milk and air - sooo frustrating.

If it makes you feel better, veggie refusal is very very common - a lot of kids won't eat veggies from about 1 or 2 till 4 or 5. Sometimes you just have to ride it out and make sure that the rest of his diet makes up for it.

Good idea, I will try to dilute.  I will also cut out the sippy and start using a glass, this way he will drink less.  Luckily he likes healthy food.  I don't keep any junk in the house because I would be tempted to give it to him.  So snacks are frui or crackers and cheese.

thanks

I'm jumping for joy!!!  As silly as it may sound!  He actually ate half of a chicken nugget for the first time ever!!!  And he liked it!!!  FINALLY a way for me to get meat into him!!  I've been putting it on his lunch plate for weeks now.  YAY!   :D
