32 weeks and never slept more than 4 hours
« on: March 16, 2007, 19:26:41 pm »
i am so deperate for sleep- my little 7 month old boy has never slept more than 4 hours at night. i have tried everything but he constantly wakes and i know its because he sees me as a comforter and prop- i nurse him to sleep. ive been addressing the problem and for a week now have followed a schedule from tracy hogg solves problems- yes he is now sleeping much better in the day and is starting to eat solids better as he wasnt eating thme before and his weight hadnt increased in over a month. but the nights are still so bad- ive even started him on a dream feed. he sleeps from approx 730 to 1030 then wakes approx every hour- i try and get him back to sleep but he is so used to boob its really difficult.
he is haveing 2 or 3 sleeps a day totalling approx 3 hours and ive stopped nursing him for these and have doen pd/pu- he is very strong willed yet a touchy baby. and if he wakes at 45 mins he WILL not go back to sleep- 10 attempts of 2 hours pu/pd and he doesnt budge- but he does seems to be having longer sleeps by himself now.
i havent doen pu/pd at night as i am too tired to do it and quite fragile.
he also keeps waking when he rolls on to his stomach and frightens himself- he is capbale of rolling back but cant seem to at night?? please help me!!

Hi there,   BIG {{{{{HUGS}}}}

Can you post what his day looks like? Including what and how much he eats and his activities?

As for the DF, if he didn't have one before it may not be such a good idea to introduce it now. It may disrupting his nighttime sleep. And sweetie, Touchy babies are strong willed, we have a chat for mommies of Touchy babies in EASY. I'm sure you can find support there  :-*

i am trying to follwo this plan
7 up and try bf- but often wont have much
730-try solids- wont have much- sucks bread and butter or bread and phiuladelphia- always make him baby cereal and try but he usually refuses it.
somewhere between 8-830- he asks for a bf- doesnt have much
845-wind down
9-bed (can sleep between 45mins-1hr30)
1030 up- offer boob (often has a bit-never full feed)
12-solids- trying him on one jar, cucumber slices etc.
he may want a bf?
1245- wind down
1 sleep (can sleep between 45mins-1hr30)
2-230-offer boob
4 solids
445- see if he wants  a nap of 45 mins
6 bath
630-bf- a good 20 mins
7ish sleep.

we seem to think he has a small stomach capacity and prefers to snack- never really takes 2 boobs and is very distracted- thats why i think he feeds at night.
he wont take a bottle of formula or expressed bm
he is 32 weeks and weighs 18 pounds but isnt gaining weight.
