Breakfast ideas?
« on: July 02, 2009, 15:53:59 pm »
Hi everyone

I need your help with some breakfast ideas. My lo is almost 8 months and is recovering from an ear infection.  I normally give her cereal for breakfast, which she loves, but because she is on antibiotics, she doesn't want it. I think her tummy is upset.
She takes one spoonful and then cries after.  I sometimes give her a cheerio and as she opens her mouth, I put a spoonful of cereal in.  I gave her toast yesterday because she refused her cereal.
What else can I give her?  I am going to try pancakes this weekend.  She is not on dairy yet.

thanks

probiotic yoghurt is great for her tummy, you could add some fruit puree to plain yoghurt
mashed banana
porridge
scrambled egg
waffles

tbh, she can really have absolutely anything for breakfast, even spaghetti bolognese if that is what she likes. It doesn't have to be what we think of as a 'breakfast food'. She's only 8 months, she doesn't know it's 'wrong' to have spaghetti for breakfast! ;)

DD started to spit cereal out at some point and I had to mix in fruit or veggies for her to eat it. I guess once I had introduced a bunch of new flavors the cereal became boring for her. Not sure if that might also be contributing to the refusal? I know antibiotics do make you feel blech and cause tummy trouble too, so it could really just be that.

I haven't introducd yogurt or eggs yet. Her pediatrician wants us to wait until she is 10months. :-\ :-\  She hates bananas-I don't know why! I may try mixing it with avocado or another fruit. Tomorrow I will mix her cereal with some fruit. I hope she likes it.  I think her cereal tastes yummy!

Our doc said to wait on eggs and yogurt as well, but when DD showed no signs of allergies with other foods I did intro them a bit early. No rush though obviously.
