As long as he is happy and content and taking milkfeeds well I wouldn't be concerned at all. Solids are more for practice than nutrition at this age, but I will say that introducing foods was important to me at this point so that when solids became more consistent I knew DD had already had many ingredients to finger foods etc. Now I know she can pretty much try anything.

I've done this too with all my kids.  It's hard to stay consistent at first.  I'd say my kids were about 6-6.5 months before I was consistently giving them solids every day.  I wouldn't worry too much about it right now if I were.  Just relax and enjoy the flexibility. :)
