Adjusting to Daylight Savings
« on: April 03, 2006, 00:34:46 am »
Damm Daylight savings we put DD to bed that night half an hour later (didn't want to push it to far) and she woke at 5.30am the next day. So that day we also put her to bed at her usual time of 7.15pm and this morning woke at 6am instead of the usual 6.45/7am what is going on will it take her a few days to adjust? I love our 7am start but please not 6am what should i do?

It was back to 5.30 am for us too this morning - yuk!! And I 'd just got used to 6.30 -7 am for the first time in 2 years. I hope he adjusts but there is VERY noisy bird out the front that pipes up about 5.30 am and the white noise does nothing to drown it out. Grrrr!

Natasha - i split your post off because we are trying to keep that thread as a resource thread, not as a Q&A thread.   ;)

but to answer your question... wait - are you in Australia too?  so your time just fell back an hour??

if you don't already darken her room a little, you might want to do it a little bit now, to help prevent super-early wakeups.
and yes, every little increment is an improvement.  it can take up to 2 weeks to fully adjust; until then just keep delaying how long you go into her, and do everything by the new time.  she will adjust soon.   :D

we just sprung forward today and i thought this would be a relatively easy transition but it feels like a nightmare!  she woke up about the same time but the whole day was just a mess..from naps, to feedings, to bedtime...everything!  i do hope that in the next few days everything will iron itself out - just wanted to say that i too feel your pain!

we're really messed up here thats for sure. O.o;; my DD didn't wake untill 8:30 then went back to sleep till 10 and the rest of the day was screwy. She didn't go down till 9:30 pm tonight. She wasn't cranky or anything, she just didn't want to sleep. I too hope things get sorted out soon.
