Waking up and not sure for hunger?
« on: April 05, 2006, 00:04:45 am »
Hello everyone,

My lo is now 25 weeks old. The spring time change happened on Sat and since then she has been waking at night which she hasn't done in a month. Firstly, for the last month she has slept from 6:45 pm until 7:30am and me needing to wake her in the morning (this was wonderful), the last two nights have been different though. The first night after the time change she woke at 12am and drank a full 6 ounces, then went back to sleep until 7:30am, last night she woke at 5:30am drank 6 ounces and went back to sleep until 7:30am. I am wondering if this will keep happening or revert back, I don't want to start any habits of feeding again at night if this is not what she needs. I just have such a hard time figuring out if she is hungry or if something else is up, I try and put her back down first before feeding her but she just cries so I ended up giving her the bottle. Is it the time change, growth spurt or separation anxiety???

She takes between 30-34 ounces formula day plus 3 meals. Breakfast and dinner are rice cereal and/or oatmeal (2 TBSP) with 2 tsp of veggies, lunch is 4 tsp of veggies. She is approx.20pounds.
Our schedule normally is

7:30am wake and bottle 6-7 ounces
8:30am 2 tbsp rice/oatmeal+veggies with rest of formula (1-2ounces)
9;40-11(11:30) nap
11:30am bottle 5 ounces
12:30 bottle 2 ounces+veggies
1:30-2:30 nap (usually in stroller)
3:30 6-8 ounces bottle
4:30-5:00 mini nap
5:30 2tbsp rice cereal+veggies+2-3 ounces formula
6:20 bath, kisses, mini massage
6:45 bottle 6-7 ounces
7:00 bed

I am just trying to get my head around why she is waking again, all help would be appreciated :)

HI,

I don;t have a lot of time at the moment but it sounds like the 6 month growth spurt to me!  Try and up her food intake in the day for a few days and see if that helps.  Also with a growthe spurt she needs extra rest so make sure she is having good naps!

HTH,

Richelle
