Feeding routines for 12 months and up????????
« on: November 14, 2006, 03:54:36 am »
Can anyone point me in the direction of posts of feeding routines for 12 months and up? The 10-12 months was very helpful, for the past 2 months, but we are about at 12 months and I wanted to see what other 12 month olds eat....quantities....how much whole milk....etc...

Sofia's Mommy - I wasnt sure if you wanted foods or times and schedules.   Here is our time schedule.    We really have fallen into a routine - so this is pretty predictable.

6 - wake and bottle (1/2 milk and 1/2 formula)  All bottles are a mix right now.
7:30 breakfast
8:30 - 10:30 NAP
10:30 bottle
11:30-12 Lunch
Snack
2:30-4 Bottle and then NAP or a NAP and then ber bottle when she wakes.  This order depends on her.  If she wont take it, I dont usually offer it when she wakes.   I would rather her have a light snack and a good dinner.  I WILL offer her the bottle when she wakes if she went down early and wakes closer to 3:30 - KWIM - it all depends....
4  - Juice box and snack
5:00 Dinner
snack
8 - Bottle before bed.

As I write it it seems like there is a lot of milk and a lot of snacks.  She does not always take the full 8 ounces and her snacks may be a few bites of this and that.    The 2:30 time is the one I am tweaking to see how we will drop a bottle and have her eat more solids at each meal.  SHe IS doing more food and the bottles have more left in them but we have not dropped one yet.

Does that help?   Her wake times are all her choosing - they work PERFECT for us - but may seem "early" for others!

Id love to see your routine.     WHen is your LO's Birthday?   You should join us on the Nov/Dec Birth Club boards........

Hi Girls!

Thanks so much for sharing your routines! Stacey, I think I will join you all on the Nov/Dec birth clubs page! Thanks! I laughed when you said that 6am was "early." Out little one is usually up between 5 and 6am....6am being her sleeping in! So, we have adjusted to this schedule and it works for us too!

Here is our routine.....
6:30 Nurse
8-8:30 Breakfast: 1/4 cup baby oatmeal mixed with 4 oz of pureed fruit....juice/water combo in a suppy cup
9ish....nap...our famous 45 min napper!! Gotta love that!
10:30 Snack: Yogurt
12:30 Lunch: (This is all over the place right now...she doesn't necessarily want pureed food too much anymore, but gets tired of eating the finger food...so we are struggling!) BUT..normally it is cheese, peas, baby meatballs, some sort of pureed veggie
1:00 or 2:00 Nap....again 45 mins
2:30/3:00 Nurse (This one is like a snack...I think I am going to cut it out today and see how she does...will replace with another type of snack.)
5:00ish Dinner: 4 oz veggie, some sort of protein, 1oz fruit mixed into 1/4 cup rice cereal
7:00 Bath, Bottle/Nurse (I work 4 nights a week), story and bedtime

I am struggling with getting away from the pureed food because she only has 2 teeth and no other ones even looking like they are coming, so I am not sure what else to feed her!

I also know she does not sleep enough during the day, but I have struggled with these 45 min naps FOR A WHOLE YEAR NOW and NOTHING has worked, not one of the BW things, nothing, so we have given up and accepted this!

Let me know if you have any hints or ideas or thoughts about our schedule! Does anyone know exactly how much milk they are supposed to have daily once they switch to whole milk?

THANKS THANKS THANKS
KATI :)

At 12months+ Recommended milk intake is approx 16ozs a day. Otherwise your routine looks great.

DS is just approaching 12 months and his routine is almost the same as my toddlers except the milk so I expect when I finish bf in the new year it will look something like this.

7am wake and breakfast with glass of cow's milk
0930 / 10am snack
12.00 lunch
12.30 Sleep (2hours +)
15.00 snack
17.15 Tea
18.30 Will offer milk and/or biscuit (DD doesn't have much milk as it makes her windy so not sure how it will be for DS as I've also had to cut from my diet). Not that fussed if he takes it or not. He gets it in his breakfast and white sauces.

Will DD I had to cut one of her snacks because she would stop eating her main meals although she does have hungry weeks when she'll just eat and eat. Other weeks she doesn't eat much.

HTH.

There are some great thread , "What did your toddler eat today?" and "What did your picky toddler eat today?" in the Eating for Toddler forum. It's good to see what other lo's are eating. I picked up some ideas I never would have thought of before.
