Is it okay....
« on: December 14, 2006, 00:39:42 am »
Hi there,

I'm probably going to be starting solids sometime this month as DD will be going through 6 month growth spurt a little early (usually a couple weeks before she turns a month older...almost like clockwork).  I plan to start off with just 1 feed of cereal during the day, and I see so many moms do it an hour after bf in the morning.  I was wondering, is there any harm doing it 1 hr after bf at lunch time instead?  I just notice that she is not really that hungry anyway at lunch and is actually hungrier by the 3rd feeding of the day so I thought maybe cereal then would be better than in the morning.

She is still completely bf right now, no solids.

I was going to do 1 feed a day to see how it went for a week and then bring in a second solid feed after her 3rd bfeeding in the day if I felt she needed more.

Thanks,
Wei

You want to do it early in the day in the even that she has a reaction to the cereal it wont affect her night sleep and it is easier to deal with during the day. ;D

The reason behind introducing foods is encouraged early in the day is so that you can watch for allergic reactions through the rest of the day.
