early rising, unable to settle after feeds.. help?
« on: June 13, 2006, 21:15:16 pm »
hello, my ds---now 19 weeks is on 4hour Easy. We have sucessfully achieved a 2hour awake time, and some consistent 1 1/2 hr naps---yey! this however leaves 1/2hr activity time before next feed etc. and all naps then end up moving forward-----cat nap then falls about 3hrs before bed-----and then long stretch until bedtime. It would workout perfect if at least one nap was 2hours-----how can I achieve this?

TIA, Deborah

thanks Stacy,
my son seems ok during the day---gradually gets more tired as the day goes on.  He did wake from second nap after 1.5hrs of sleep crying.(1:30pm) This usually means that he is still tired but I could not get back to sleep before next feed.(2:00pm)

After catnap is always still tired. Today for example--took cat nap at 3:40-4:20pm,(he always wakes-I do not wake him) was yawning ++ and fussy by 5pm. bedtime routine starts at 5:45pm or so as bf due at 6pm or so, thus in bed by 6:30pm--and asleep by 6:45pm or so.  The day is still starting early at 5:30am or 5:45am with first bf at 6am.

the 2hour nap would mean that he would have to enter into a 3rd cycle of sleep---maybe he is not able to do this?

also, I still feel that he is not getting enough sleep at night---9hrs max when I subtract any wake-ups. Lately, he has been waking at df time---thus is probably awake for 1hr btwn feed/resettling. Also, he is still wanting to eat 1x/night but has a hard time falling back asleep afterwards---not crying but rather just talking, grunting etc for 1hr+. This morning he ate at 4:15am---was awake until 5:15am and still woke for day at 5:45am. I know that this is a problem but not really sure what to do when he is not crying.
