Need Help ASAP with EASY
« on: June 07, 2010, 17:09:14 pm »
Hello All

First love and prayers to Tracy's family.  I lost my mom to cancer in 1993 and this pulls at my heart strings.

Second, I have three children of my own well passed the EASY stage of childhood - a 12 year old, 9 year old and 4 year old.  I last used the EASY method with my youngest and last year I had a new born baby in my care who pretty much had herself on this routine from two months old on so I never even had to consult the book.  But now I am caring for a 4 month old who is not "EASY" (yet) and need a refresher course STAT.  I have the books reserved at the library but in the meantime I have a sort of weird question.  I know what EASY stands for and clearly know how it works but for some reason I vaguely remember there may have been a variation of EASY with a similar acronym.  Ringing any bells??

Third and lastly, any quick tips on transitioning an on demand breast fed baby who is not on EASY to this lovely little routine? It was easy for me with my kids because I pretty much did it straight from birth with all of them - even the two I had before I even heard about EASY.

I know this is day one and once I have her in my care more often and after I consult the books it will come together but I am just looking for answers to my previous two questions to hold me over... please  ;)

I'm not sure what you mean about the easy acronym variation. can you expand?

Hi Cherished Moments

Welcome to the boards, good to have you here.

Could you mean the EAEASY - that's when with an older baby who has long A times needs to eat twice ie. when they wake up and another time during that period...so it goes Eat Activity Eat Activity Sleep. You won't be in that place just yet with this LO. Tracy uses lots of acronyms in her books so you may be confusing it with one of her others (STOP, SLOW, PUPD, WIWO...and so on)

As far as moving from demand to EASY my advice would be to keep a log of EAS times for at least 3 - 4 days - you then may find that there is already a bit of routine that the LO has set herself. With that info it will be much easier to see where the day needs tweaking to get into a better routine.

In the meantime, here are some links to help you out before the books arrive (some of these may be redundant considering your vast experience but i just put them in anyway)

How odd! I meant to attach the "starting easy all you need to know" that Chicane has done for you. Not sure how it ended up 4-6MO samples but may be worth a look too.
