Born at 37 weeks! What is her awake time?...
« on: January 16, 2015, 09:53:15 am »
I am confused..... My daughter is 7 months today but her corrected age is 6 months due to being born at 37 weeks...what should her awake time be? She is fighting naps and I am not sure if it's due to be OT or UT...
Thanks

Average would be about 3hr by now. Usually they're starting if not already transitioned to 2 naps.

By all means, post your EASY and we can give some more specific help if you like :)

My son was born at 37 weeks I always went by his age rather then due date because 37 weeks is considered full term not premature.

^^^agree with Anna, you don't normally correct age for anything from 37 weeks plus.

Unfortunately due to 30 mins naps we can't really follow the EASY routine. . I find that sometimes she feeds before she plays or she doesnt feed cause it hasnt been 4 hours yet and she is not hungry. . We are all over the shop at the moment... I can tell you that her day starts at 6.30 or 7 am and she will feed... she stays awake for 1.5 hours max before wanting to sleep again for 30 mins... the rest of the day is every where.. any advice would be great......

She's under tired, needs longer awake time before her nap - gradually add 10 mins at a time but average A time at 6 months is about 2.5-3 hrs

As PP have said Being born at 37 weeks she really is within "normal range" & there isn't really considered a "corrected age" for a baby born after about 37 weeks as it is considered with in "normal for term" Also the corrected age should be adjusted one week for each 4 weeks of life (up to 8 weeks early & then other factors need to be considered in working out age), so a baby that is '3 weeks early' can pretty much be considered 'caught up' by 12 weeks anyway.

My 37 weeker always had high A times for age anyway, my 39 weeker was about average, and my 35 weeker seems to be about average.
