Rice Pudding or Just Pudding Recipe
« on: May 07, 2010, 10:43:24 am »
I've been thinking of making some rice pudding or plain pudding for ds, but can't find any good recipes for that.

Does anyone have a nice recipe to share & it would be great if it includes some kind of fruit as well ;)

We do 3oz milk, 3 tsp pudding rice and 1 oz fruit puree (pear is nice). Put it in the microwave for 1 minute stirring halfway through. this makes one portion but you could make more and do it on the hob in a pan until thick.

Also for puddings, jelly made with milk instead of water is good.

We use short grain rice but I thik you could use basmati or long grain but may increase cooking time. Some ground cinnamon and or nutmeg is nice to sprinkle on the top too.

hey :)
50 gr rice
600ml milk
1 tbs caster sugar ( optional)
1/2 tsp vanilla essence

this is an excellent recipe! put all ingredients in deep saucepan, bring to boil then reduce heat and cover with a lid and let simmer for 35 mins stirring occasionaly until the consistency is one of a pudding.
dont be fooled by the quatitites, the rice absorbs all the milk and it all becomes well puddy ;D
you can add chopped fruits or dried fruits to th emix while cooking, it will give a natural sweetness :D
enjoy :) X

It is ok to give a bit in cooking under 1yo but I think they say wait until 9Mo for milk and milk products (yoghurt/cheese etc) in case of allergies. We did eat it earlier though as we have no allergies in the family but it would be up to you if you were willing to risk it. You can make pretty much anything with formula that you can make with cows milk though so you could just substitute it.
