A times extending but still needs to feed 3hrly
« on: December 29, 2013, 08:39:00 am »
Hi,
We have been on a pretty successful 3hrly EASY since DD was 2 weeks old. She is now 16 weeks but was 2 weeks early and still only 4.5-5kg. She is EBF.
We were follwing a 3 hr EASY but she was less enthusiastic about feeds and A times now 1hr 45 so naps pushing out feed times and getting shorter. So i tried to move her to a 3.5hr easy- naps better but night waking increased from 1am and 4 am to 2330,2ish and 4ish. She wont take a dream feed. So yeterday we were all messed up time wise as travelling- so she ended up being fed 3hrly and napping around that- back to 0100 and 0430 wake ups with a 12 hr night.
I think she needs to feed more iften than 3.5hrly- i was having to pu/pd to extend and whilst it worked- it was taking 30 mins to extend nightime sleep to give 3.5hr feeding interval when she was going for longer at night with more daytime feeds.
I have been trying to find a suggested EASY for 3.5hr /4hr EASY with extra feeds- please can you help?

Lol!  I've posted about the exact same problem just yesterday. We have the exact same problem at the moment and I guess I'm going to have to give an extra feed before nap time. Idk what else to do.

Just to see if I got it right - her A times can be higher but she doesn't manage such a big gap between feeds?
If that's the case then what most parents do it either feed in the middle of A time (if LO can wait in the morning) or you give a top up before the nap, just make sure that you have some A time in between the feed and sleep, even just a nappy change.
