Do you make up nap minutes?
« on: January 12, 2006, 20:41:15 pm »
Hi
My lo normally takes good naps but sometimes she takes 45min naps.  At this point, I spend next 30-40min pat&shush and feed her.  As indicated in the book, I keep the next A light and put her back to sleep and she take another 45min naps.
(she's on 4hr EASY)
So, should I extend her cat nap to make up for the lost naptime?
If so, would this interfere with her night time sleep?

I would not try to necessarily extend the catnap, but if she extends it on her own, then I would let her be and then see if it effects bedtime.  As you've heard many times before, all lo's are different.   So for some bedtime will not be affected at all with a longer catnap, but some will.  When Taylor was consistently taking short naps, often times she would take a longer catnap and sometimes sleep till 6 pm, but then still be able to make a 7:30 bedtime.

See how it goes is my advice

Thanks
She slept at night fine.  So now i don't panic if she takes 45min naps since she makes up for at during the catnap without disturbing her night time sleep.
