hungry 8 month old

Hi!  DS is 8.5 months old.  He is Bf 4 times a day.  He is on 3 meals a day, but lately, seems starving; I think he would just keep letting me shovel it in forever if I would!  I'm not sure how much to feed him so that it doesn't interfere with his milk intake.  Here is our feeding schedule:

6 BF
7:15  2 tbsp rice cereal, 2 fruit cubes, 2 veg cubes  (cubes are about 1.5 tablespoons)
10:30ish BF
11:45  3 fruit cubes, 3 veg cubes
2:30/3:00ish BF
4 or 4:30  3 tbsp oatmeal, 2-3 fruit cubes, 2-3 veg cubes
6  BF

He is sleeping fine and not waking to eat, but has been very fussy about 45 min after breastfeeds and acts like he's starving when I feed him.  So, should I:
-increase his amount of solids every meal?
-move his solids meal up closer to the BF?
-add a snack?
We have not yet started finger foods or meat  (will do so in a week or 2).  Is it wrong to wait (maybe these types of foods are more filling???  I was trying to wait till his 9 mo check up to check with the pediatrician, but I know I can start earlier...)  Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Jen

Sounds like it could be a growth spurt. Could you try bring solids forward a little. So do:
6 BF
7  2 tbsp rice cereal, 2 fruit cubes, 2 veg cubes  (cubes are about 1.5 tablespoons)
10:30ish BF
11:30  3 fruit cubes, 3 veg cubes
2:30/3:00ish BF
4 or 4:30  3 tbsp oatmeal, 2-3 fruit cubes, 2-3 veg cubes
6  BF
