Nap problem at almost 2
« on: March 28, 2014, 08:27:12 am »
My 23 month old has suddenly stopped wanting tot ake his nap in his bed.

I would offer it at the same time he takes it at crèche which is after lunch. I have tried waiting a little later to see if just isn't as stimulated but nothing works, he was always such a textbook baby and his routing was always so bang on and now this is prob stressing me out more than anyone else. Should I just let him not stay up? He screams the house down n his bed and I have tried lying with him, reading etc but nothing.

I am due a baby in 5 weeks.

His routing is

6.15 ish up
Sleep in crèche after lunch at 12ishfor almost 2 hours
4 dinner
7.30 sleep

I would push the nap back to more like 1pm (you might want to go to 12.30pm first)
The nap is quite early for his age and hopefully he will then be more tired x

We had all kinds of sleep shenanigans from 23-25 moths around Olly's second birthday. I would def push the nap later and cap if necessary. Good Luck.

I have tried this and even a little later and still no. Unless I take him for a drive or a walk or occasionally he will fall asleep on me there is no hope of him going down in his bed. I am just thinking I might not be able to do any of this in 4 weeks time when the baby arrives

Both of mine did this around 2 years - it is a common time for a sleep regression and it often seems to affect naps. I would stick with offering at 1pm consistently and see what happens. If you find he is getting OT then yes offer a car or buggy nap but keep trying with the nap....hopefully it will come back!

I am pretty sure it is a blip for you but totally understand how it must be hard with another baby so close. Hang in there x
